There is a growing sense of frustration from the lack of German policy response and credible reaction to Russian aggression.

On 20 January 2022, Czech and German foreign ministers Jan Lipavský and Annalena Baerbock issued a common statement in remembrance of 25 years since signing the Czech–German Declaration on Mutual Relations and their Future Development.

They emphasized that the Declaration helped to overcome—often burdensome—issues of common past events and achieved unexpected progress in bilateral ties, including when looking into the future. Both foreign ministers noted that the Czech-German ties are the best in history and also mentioned several common challenges faced by both countries.
