China’s failure to influence the Czech Republic has thus far been largely been an exercise in futility, with a lack of understanding as to the history and functioning of the Czech state leading to high profile follies.
“The Czech Republic is joking that if there are two options, China will always choose the worst,” Karaskova commented for Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat, noting the persistent skepticism Czechs hold with regard to China. “China does not understand how Western democracy works.”
